Our Favourite Trivia:
This is the second horror movie for actress Molly Ringwald. The first was Office Killer (1997). She also did several thrillers, including Malicious (1995), Requiem for Murder (1999), Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999), and Some Folks Call It a Sling Blade (1994). She was also in The Stand miniseries in 1994.
Ringwald played dual roles in this movie, portraying both Chloe and Vanessa Turnbill, appearing in both of the film's eras: the 1980s and the 1990s. Vanessa is the American actress character starring in the movie-within-this-movie, 'Hot Blooded'. Chloe is the character Ringwald plays. Vanessa is the bigger role yet Ringwald found Chloe, the 16-year-old schoolgirl, the most challenging of the two. For Ringwald, it was a case of playing different characters that she tried to make distinctly different from one another.
This is the second of two film collaborations to date of director Kimble Rendall and singer-actress Kylie Minogue. The first had been the short film Hayride to Hell (1995) about five years earlier.
In the original script drafts Kylie Minogue's role was larger, which included her friend and backstory, and her character Hilary Jacobs ended up being electrified in a big scene. Minogue's part in the film was apparently reduced due to the pop star's limited availability.
Actress Jessica Napier auditioned several times with numerous call backs for her part in the movie to the point she got fed up with the project. Napier then got a phone call to say she had got the lead role.
According to the websites seen towards the start of the film, Venessa Turnbill was recently dumped from the TV series Chick Cops and has signed on to do an ad campaign for “Rotisserie Rooster.” She is also in talks to star in By the Light of the Moon, directed by actress Demi Shaw for Flickstein Films.
The acronym on the film can read FARTS and stood for "Film Audiovisual Radio and Television School". This is actually a spoof anagram parody of the real life AFTRS which stands for the "Australian Film, Television and Radio School".
Cut had a home video release on VHS in Australia during late 2000, and was released on Blu-Ray in 2019, followed by VOD. However, it never had a commercial DVD release in Australia despite being available in other countries.
