In this weeks episode of The Dawson's Creek Rewatch, Cory and Tom are free and awkward as they discuss season 5 episodes 11 & 12, "Something Wild" and "Sleeping Arrangements."

Something Wild:

Written by: Jeffrey Stepakoff

Directed by: Michael Lange

Original airdate: January 16, 2002 (1 month break)

Synopsis:

As Joey anxiously awaits with Bessie in Capeside for the mail with news of her grades, Pacey shows up after having picked up something he needed and says he’s headed back to Boston for the rest of Spring Break. Joey, unwilling to continue to endure Bessie’s badgering about Dawson and Jen, decides to head back with him and discovers that she won’t be alone like she thought as Audrey has returned back to the dorm for spring break as well.

Dawson and Jen drive back home to visit Capeside with Jen talking with him about the different programs that Oliver’s Film School offers. Once they arrive at Gail’s place, it becomes clear to Gale that her son and Jen have moved well past the kissing stage as she notices Dawson’s shirt is inside out.

At the restaurant, Pacey tells Audrey about the opening they have for a waitress and her enthusiasm wins Danny over who hires her immediately. Later, Danny confronts Pacey about something and while Pacey believes he did something wrong, Danny reveals that he is impressed by him and has decided to promote him to chef, and gives him his holiday bonus he never picked up.

Back at Capeside, Dawson steps in to help Gail with the plumber who hasn’t been attending to his duties at the restaurant. Gail talks with Jen while they put up the baby gate, and they discuss how Dawson needs to be pushed into things because he has his father’s stubborn streak. Through their conversation, Gail soon begins to understand that Jen really does care about Dawson and wants the best for him.

Joey goes looking for her grades and discovers that she has made all A’s, even in Professor Wilder’s class, whom she gives a big hug to. Later at a party, Audrey tries to turn the hug into something more salacious but Joey pushes back against that. Audrey sets up a goal for the night for both of them to kiss some boys. As they scope out boys, Audrey sets her sights on the bass player of the band, who happens to be Charlie. Charlie notices them noticing him while Joey and Audrey realize that he is Jen’s ex.

Later Charlie approaches Joey and tries to sweet talk her but she calls him out on his actions with Jen and he realizes who she is. Nevertheless he still tries his various lines, attempting to put the moves on her but Joey doesn’t take the bait.

Jen and Dawson chat after he comes home from the restaurant and she brings up college, mentioning that she and Gail had talked. Dawson calls her out on not being the best person to give him advice about parents considering she doesn’t talk to hers which results in the two fighting and walking away from each other.

Pacey talks with Joey about how she needs to let “Other” Joey loose, the side of herself that is more carefree and wild. Meanwhile, Charlie shows up and tries his lines again but Joey just argues with him. Charlie throws her argument back on her, pushing her to do something wild for once.

Gail gives Dawson some advice about his fight with Jen, telling him that he needs to let go of the old house, and that she really will be fine, and suggest to him that he should go to Jen and talk. Jen accepts his apology quickly and the two get back to business, breaking into Grams’ old house and christening it with their love making before talking about Dawson moving into Gram’s Boston house attic.

Pacey wonders where Joey disappeared to but they soon see her on stage with the band, singing her heart out. Afterwards Joey gives Charlie a huge kiss, telling him to not call her uptight again. From afar, Audrey sees Joey talking with Charlie and steers Pacey away from them.

Pacey drives Audrey home in the fancy new car he bought with the money he earned working at the restaurant and the two share a moment as he reveals that his father gave him this car after getting it out of the police impound lot, telling his son that he was proud of him. Pacey is quick to say that something will probably happen to take that all away, while Audrey reveals that the reason she is back at the school during spring break is not because of a small fight with her parents but something bigger that happened. Audrey gives Pacey a kiss because of her and Joey’s bet and he drives away.

Charlie offers to drive Joey home on his motorcycle but Joey decides to walk. He continues to pursue her but she stops to tell him that there might be another part of her that does wild things, but if he ever mentions anything that that other person might have done that evening, she will deny it, leaving Charlie to drive off on his motorcycle.

Dawson's Trivia:

Tom (the potential kiss guy) was Andrew Hamrick. He was a lead actor in 1995’s Smooth Operator (naive medical interns learn how to operate in the hospital and how to "operate" on the streets as well), 1997’s Back To One (no synopsis), Rules (woman finds true happiness when she convinces the two men she loved to share her in a polyamous relationship but it comes to a sudden violent end and reveals a secret), The Boom Boom Girls of Wrestling (six female wrestlers get stuck in a ghost town and just fight it discover its secrets), and The Unreliable Narrator (a young man fights with his inner critic, literally, in order to allow himself to connect with a young woman over the course of one night at a house party). He was a supporting actor in The Initiate (drugs, murder, love triangle and the occult), Detached (contemporary Scrooge tale set in the Hollywood Hills), and Repeat Offenders (martial artists save a kidnapped Queen). He still works occasionally and has done a number of shorts over the years.

Feel Love Fury was an alternative rock band hailing from Wilmington, NC. They were featured in three episodes on the fifth season of Dawson's Creek, as the onscreen band, Aggressive Mediocrity. Band members Stefan Hajek (vocals/guitar), Jesse Rains (guitar), Darrell Allen (bass guitar), and drummers, Kevin Cullen and John Wade, recorded four cover songs and four original songs, which were all featured on the show. Feel Love Fury was a staple in the Southeastern music scene for years, until they disbanded in 2004.

Sleeping Arrangements:

Written by: Jed Seidel

Directed by: Mel Damski

Original airdate: January 23, 2002

Synopsis:

Pacey’s girlfriend/friend/friend with benefits comes calling to let him know that her uncle is selling the boat he is living on, but that the reason is because he has bought an even bigger boat and would like to hire Pacey once again as he sails around the Greek Seas.

Meanwhile at Grams’ house, Dawson and Jen clumsily navigate the early morning routines of a couple getting ready for the day. When it turns out Jen accidentally used Dawson’s toothbrush to fix her eyelashes, Dawson suggests using hers but she balks, and shows further annoyance when he tries to go into a drawer that she uses exclusively for various things. Ever the optimist, Dawson kisses her good morning.

At Worthington, Joey is packing up to leave English class when Wilder stops her and calls her attention to a boy in the back of the room waiting awkwardly. He calls out the boy, Elliot, for waiting to talk with Joey and leaves the two alone. He asks her about going to get some coffee but she answers that she actually is on her way to meet her roommate.

On the campus radio station, Jen works her shift when she decides to take a request and the caller asks if she can just ask a question instead, which leads to Jen playing pseudo-therapist for the caller. This turns into an entire shift of students calling in to ask about their relationship issues with Jen providing her unique perspective on their problems.

Meanwhile at the frat house, Dawson helps Jack in moving in, when they learn that Blossom is vacating the single room to move in with Eric. Apparently Jack won the frat lottery, resulting in him receiving the single dorm room for himself, which he thinks strange considering that the room is a highly desired room.

Pacey tries to talk with Danny about his possible new job opportunity but Danny avoids giving him the chance to speak, instead giving him the advice that when it comes to running one’s own kitchen, just tell an employee no when they ask a question.

Dawson talks with Grams about how it must be weird for her to see him and Jen together, but she tells him that he is the nicest young man she knows and just asks that they be kind to each other. Dawson remembers that Jen is on air right then and turns on the radio to hear Jen give a rather bleak and depressing viewpoint on how men will inevitably always leave.

Joey runs into Wilder in the bookstore and she realizes that he assigned one of his books for his classes’ assignments. He uses some self-deprecating humor about his haircut and tells her that it’s a good idea to be on a first name basis with the person you used to be, lest they come back to haunt you.

Pacey confides in Audrey about his new job offer and how he isn’t sure about what to do, given his respect for Danny. In the end, she tells him that it sounds like an awesome opportunity and if it’s what he really wants to do then he should do it.

Jen returns home to find Dawson waiting for her. She tries to provoke him into saying something about her on-air comments, but he instead counters that he is not like her other boyfriends and isn’t going to fight. Isn’t going to lie, and isn’t going to cheat on her. He tells her he is going to a movie and if she wants to go great, and if not, he will see her when he gets home because he IS going to be coming home.

Pacey tells Danny about his job offer and Danny is surprisingly supportive, telling him that it’s the opportunity of a lifetime, but Pacey is surprised that he wasn’t more disappointed. Audrey tells him maybe he wanted him to be disappointed so he could have a reason to stay here. Their conversation turns into flirting with Pacey telling her that she just isn’t his type, and Audrey retorting that she has boobs, of course she is his type. Melanie shows up and Pacey goes to greet her, and they retire to the boat and reminisce on their summer together. They spend the night together and in the morning she leaves, telling him to look her up when he gets back in town.

Jack talks to Blossom about the rooming situation and while he tells Jack that he is for sure wanted here in the house, his originally assigned roommate was uncomfortable with it. Jack deduces that it was Eric and goes to confront him, where Eric reveals that he didn’t want to room with a gay guy because of the stigma of being seen as gay himself.

Audrey returns home and collapses in bed next to Joey who tells her about meeting Elliot earlier in the day. Audrey reveals she had met him at the beginning of the year and just kept talking to her about Joey.

When Dawson returns home he sees that Jen has replaced his toothbrush and asks if he could try not to leave clumps of shaving cream in the sink. He agrees to not do that and she says that as a little girl she learned that hiding herself was protection and that is why she wears makeup, and that living with someone who can see her uncovered is scary. He understands and kisses her.

Joey finds Elliot’s dorm and tries to knock several times before he actually comes out. She tells him that she does want to make new friends and asks if they can start over, suggesting coffee. He says he can’t because he has class, but when Joey shows disappointment he admits he doesn’t have a class and just wanted to see if she would be disappointed before they head off together.

Jack decides to give back his keys to Blossom, saying he feels like he shouldn’t live here, but will still stay in the frat itself. Eric runs out to find him and tells him he’s sorry and wants Jack to stay and will room with him after all. Jack says he needs to think about it first however.

Audrey goes to find Pacey on his boat and asks him to come outside for a moment, as he sees his friends have come by to help him celebrate his new job. They give him a new sextant as a going away gift but he tells them to keep it as he has decided he will stay in Boston for the time being.

Classic Creek Critiques:

GS says: Anyone remember that "On My Own" spectacle few seasons ago? this new one was

actually not bad..

Mutts says: Her performance TOTALLY blew me away. Dawson's Creek is coming back alive

again!!!! :)

Steve Raznar says: Are you guys total idiots? That was obviously NOT Katie Holmes singing that
song.

Dawn says: Sounded like her

Brat17a says: actually it was. It was really her lip-synching to herself. They have pics on a

web site of her and Audrey recording the songs for that episode. But when they

went to do the episode, they were told to lipsynch the music so it wouldn't be

that they were overlapping themselves, in case they messed up or anything

Terri S says: They do that a lot with singing in TV and movies. The sound quality comes out

much better and it is easier to fudge the shots with camera angles and stuff if

the person is a bad lipsyncer then it is to keep redoing takes if they mess up

the song.

MTP says: I thought she was great to and I love that song it was in 10 Things I Hate

About You sung by Letters To Cleo.

Mal P says: You must be a total idiot. Pictures of her singing can be seen here

Shelly@memoryln.com says: why is this message board so boring ? come on people say something .post

some spoilers !!!lets here some opinions about the cast , the writers, hell

the scenery anything will do just post something please

skpngmp says: my $.02

And I preceed all this by saying, I am a fan of the show not trying to bash!

So here goes.....

Jack- needs to be phased out, OR the boring plot w/ the Frat and all the
Homophob stuff needs to be dumped. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Jen- needs to be replaced. Not sure why, I just have never cared for her too
much.
Dawson- finally his story line is taking on somehwhat of a "realistic life"
Joey- still too whinny(sp), she'll get the short end of the stick with that
guy Elliot, then she'll start whining again.
Pacey - good decision by not leaving a perfectly good job, atta boy Pace!
Audrey- GREAT!! brings so much life to the show!! Best addition to the cast.
She and pacey will definitely hook up, then Joey get's whinny again, then
likes Pacey again.
Joey's Professor (drawing ablank on his name at the moment) - is NOT Chuck
Woolery!! What's with all the, "hey he wants to talk to you, go and talk to
her, you guys get together, I am all up in your business" stuff??

like I said I try my best to watch it every week and I enjoy it, these are
just my comments!!
