RW542 - Heroes Rewatch S01E03-04 - Giant Collision

In this weeks episode of The Heroes Rewatch, Cory and Tom hear the call but aren't sure how to react as they discuss season 1 episodes 3 & 4, One Giant Leap and Collision.

Chapter Three 'One Giant Leap':

Volume: One

Written by: Jeph Loeb

Directed by: Greg Beeman

Original airdate: October 9, 2006

Synopsis:

In Vegas, Nikki continues to bury her victims, finding a skull ring at the site. The two meet up with Micah’s grandmother, Paulette, her ex-husband’s mother, but the meeting is short and awkward before Nikki leaves with Micah. As they drive off into the desert, Micah tells Nikki she should believe in DL, his father, and that no one will be able to find him ever. She starts to question how he knows that, but they are pulled over by a cop who tells her that Mr. Linderman wants to see her now, and they are forced to go with the man.

Claire meanwhile attends to her high school duties which include getting ready for a big bonfire if the football team should win their game. As he notices Claire checking out the quarterback, HRG tells her to be careful as he drops her off at school. Zach and Claire chat, with Zach trying to get her to realize that this school stuff doesn’t matter anymore, due to her abilities, that she has changed and the pretty blonde cheerleader is not who she really is anymore.

Hiro returns to Ando and tries to get him to believe him about his powers, rushing off when his watch beeps, with Ando in tow. Using the comic book as a guide, they go to an intersection where the book shows them saving a young girl from being hit by a bus. Ando is still skeptical but goes along with it when suddenly the situation in the book begins to occur. Hiro quickly freezes time, enabling him to save the girl, and Ando, finally understanding, rejoices with him. Together they head off on a plane to the United States, later renting a car that the comic book showed them they would need.

Peter tries to use his flight power while falling from a playground swing, but to no avail. He tries to talk to Nathan about it, telling him about a book he found by Chandra Suresh, but again Nathan wants to forget about it, telling him a reporter has been sniffing around about his suicide.

Mohinder, meanwhile, has been burning the candle at both ends trying to figure out his father’s formula to no avail. In frustration he throws his fathers computer which reveals a hidden journal within it. Using the book, they are able to find Sylar’s apartment which has a book detailing the removal of human heads, and a secret room containing a much more detailed map than his father’s, and a small room painted with the words saying “I have sinned” and “forgive me”.

Matt Parkman is being questioned in a room by Agent Hanson who doesn’t believe him when he says he just heard the young girl, Molly, speak to him back at the crime scene. It’s not until he hears and repeats Hanson’s own inner thoughts back to her that she asks him to help out with the Sylar case. Before they can get started, they hear Molly scream and rush to find out that Sylar is trying to pull the young girl away. Upon being discovered he drops the girl and runs, Hanson taking chase. Cornered, Sylar uses his ability to make Hanson point her gun at herself before slamming her against a wall.  Parkman shows up and shoots Sylar several times, but Sylar just gets back up again and escapes.

Simone and Isaac have a tense conversation as she reveals she tossed all of his drugs. Despondent, Issac insists he needs them to paint the future and, unable to believe him, Simone decides to break up with him. She runs into Peter at her father’s apartment, where he tells her he believes he is meant for more and has quit.

Parkman returns home to find his wife Janice angry that he missed their couples counseling. He tries to talk with her but hears her inner thoughts that she wishes he would just leave, so he does just that, going to a nearby bar. As he drinks he hears the thoughts of everyone around him until he sees one man sitting by himself in a corner, staring intently at him, and realizes there is just silence when it comes to that man’s thoughts. Suddenly Matt finds himself dizzy and collapses on the floor.

Peter runs into Simone again at Nathan’s fundraising gala and the two chat and have a moment, before Nathan uses what happened to Peter as a way to try and get the story out there in their favor and to shift votes his way. Peter, annoyed that his brother would use him like this, leaves, later finding his brother and punching him, while Nathan says he did what he had to do with Peter saying he gets it.

At the celebratory bonfires, Claire hangs out with Brody, the quarterback, and they head off and start to make out, as a girl watches them from afar, looking worried. Brody pushes her to go further, quickly making it clear that he intends to rape her. As she puts up a fight, he ends up pushing her and she lands on a pile of wood that pierces the back of her head and she dies instantly. Brody rushes off like the complete spineless jerk he is. Later, in an autopsy room, the branch that impaled Claire is removed and slowly, she reawakens, looking down to see that her entire chest and torso has been cut open during the autopsy.

Back-issues:

Greg Beeman has a long list of TV series credits as director. He did direct a couple of features in the 1990s; Problem Child 3: Junior in Love and Bushwhacked (starring Daniel Stern).

Since we discussed Tim Kring writing Teen Wolf Too, I guess it only makes sense that we get in the writer of the original Teen Wolf… Too. Jeph Loeb actually wrote several well known film scripts in the 1980’s, including Commando (Arnold Schwarzenegger), and Burglar (Whoopi Goldberg). In the early 2000’s, he wrote episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Animated Series, Smallville and Heroes, before turning his attention to mostly adapting Batman graphic novels to the screen.

Janice is played by Elizabeth Lackey, an Australian character actor. She headlined the show Just Cause (a mother and wife is the patsy for her husband's insurance scam, sending her to prison for 5 years while he gets away with money and their daughter. She studies law while incarcerated, gets her degree, and once out on parole, works to clear her name and find her missing daughter). We’ve actually seen her before in season 5 of Sliders; she was in the episode ‘Dust’ (the Sliders arrive in the middle of an archaeological dig. They discover they are in their old home town, however everything seems to have happened hundreds of years before. Then they find a fossilized timer).

Nathan’s Campaign Manager is played by Eugene Byrd, who we just saw as the slightly sexist and overbearing Dr Harper in Quantum Leap.

The Car Rental Girl, Riki Lindhome, currently plays in Garfunkel and Oates, with comedy partner Kate Micucci. She was in the kids series Monsters and Aliens, but shows up in all manners of genres, like The Last House on the Left (after kidnapping and brutally assaulting two young women, a gang unknowingly finds refuge at a vacation home belonging to the parents of one of the victims: a mother and father who devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics), Million Dollar Baby (an ill-tempered old coach, reluctantly agrees to train aspiring boxer Maggie. Impressed with her determination and talent, he helps her become the best and the two soon form a close bond) and headlined Another Period (a mockumentary-style period piece comedy that follows members of the wealthy Bellacourt family and their servants in early 20th-century Newport, Rhode Island). She was in the Big Bang Theory as a Sheldon Cooper fan girl turned possessive girlfriend for a few episodes.

Chapter Four 'Collision':

Volume: One

Written by: Bryan Fuller

Directed by: Ernest Dickerson

Original airdate: October 16, 2006

Synopsis:

Parkman awakens, finding himself securely bound to a table, panicking and telling HRG that he isn’t who he thinks he is, that he isn’t anyone. HRG replies that he actually is someone special and tells him that Matt can’t read his thoughts since his friend, known only as The Haitian, stands nearby. As HRG starts to leave, Matt picks up a stray thought from the man and says the name Claire outloud. Impressed by Matt’s progress, tells The Haitian to go deep and clean him out.

As Nathan heads to Vegas to meet with Mr. Linderman, his campaign manager tells him he doesn’t think it's a good idea, before Mohinder appears, trying to talk with him. Mohinder’s ramblings about being in danger and a man named Sylar cause Nathan to write him off as crazy before having his security deal with. He heads off to see Peter, who he discovers slept with Simone the previous night and asks him to just go away for a while due to him being a liability to his campaign. Simone tells Peter she isn’t sure what they have yet together, but leaves, with the promise of more once she has some time to think.

In Vegas, Niki talks with Mr. Linderman’s assistant, Ms. Sakamoto, who offers her a chance to forgive her debt if she does Linderman a favor, involving a politician coming to town, Nathan Petrelli. She balks at first but goes through with it so she and Micah can get out of Linderman’s debt. She arranges a ruse in order to bump into Nathan, and things go well until they return to his hotel suite, the intention to sleep together, when Niki balks and leaves suddenly. Linderman’s goon is waiting for her in the elevator and threatens her, but Niki suddenly experiences a shift in her personality, claiming Niki isn’t there, and proceeds to beat the thug mercilessly, warning him against hurting “our” son, before returning to Nathan’s room, and finishing the dirty deed.

Meanwhile in Texas, a coroner conducts her autopsy on Clarie’s lifeless body, pulling the broken branches from the back of her head. As the woman leaves to take a phone call, Claier’s powers finally kick in and she comes to life, closing up her open chest and escaping, leaving the coroner perplexed when she returns to the room. She returns home, but HRG notices her dirty feet, questioning what happened the previous night with Claire making up an excuse. Once back at school, Brody is scared out of his mind when he sees Claire back at school, very much alive. A girl named Lori approaches Claire and tells her about her own experience of being raped by Brody, leading Claire to meet with Brody later that night, asking if she could drive his car. As Brody arrogantly tells her that no one will believe he did anything to her, Claire starts speeding and crashes his car into a brick wall, giving Brody severe injuries, while Claire again heals instantly.

In Vegas, Ando convinces a reluctant Hiro to help them win at gambling using his power to stop times and all goes well until they are finally thrown out of the casino, and afterwards get beaten up by a card player and his gang, who lost to them earlier in the evening, due to more of Hiro’s time manipulation.

Peter finds Mohinder and they start discussing his powers, but Mohinder is slow to believe since he can’t demonstrate his flying ability or his ability to draw the future. They try to see Isaac, but he is in a trance, painting a picture of a cheerleader on some steps, as a dark shadowy figure approaches her. As Peter and Mohinder travel back on the subway, time suddenly stops and Peter looks around, confused at what’s happened, when suddenly he turns to see a pony-tailed Hiro, now much older, dressed in a long sleek jacket, sword on his back, speaking very good English, and very confident as he tells Peter he is from the future and has a message for him.

Back-issues:

Ernest Dickerson is a well known director and cinematographer. As a cinematographer, he often collaborates with Spike Lee. He directed the movies Juice (with Omar Epps and Tupac), Bulletproof (with Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler), and Bones (where Snoop Dogg plays a vampire with Pam Grier). He’s also directed episodes of many well known series.

Writer Bryan Fuller has a long history writing on Star Trek series, getting his start on Deep Space Nine and Voyager. He later went on to create Star Trek: Short Treks and Star Trek: Discovery. Before that, he created the series Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies, and developed Hannibal for series. He also wrote the teleplay for the 2002 Carrie TV movie (staring Angela Bettis and Patricia Clarkson).

Danielle Savre played Jackie, and she has a pretty good career headlining movies and TV shows. Some of those are Boogeyman, Deep Blue Sea 2 (a brilliant billionaire creates five genetically altered bull sharks, which proceed to wreak havoc for a group of scientists on an isolated research facility), Tagged, A Cohort of Guests (a group of friends is having an enjoyable dinner in one of the couple's garden patio, when they are interrupted by an uninvited "guest" with a gun), Too Close To Home, The Perfect Stalker (a woman who kills her husband and then uses an imaginary character to get her neighbor to "love and protect" her), Bring It On: All or Nothing (with Hayden P), and even the penultimate episode of The X-Files, ‘Sunshine Days’ (playing Marcia Brady). Her most recent work is in Station 19, (Grey's Anatomy spin-off follows the lives of the men and women of firehouse station 19 in Seattle, Washington).

Jimmy Jean-Louis played The Haitian. He was in the movie Rattlesnakes (Robert McQueen's day takes a turn for the worst when he is held hostage and accused by three vengeful husbands of sleeping with their wives), and had a recurring bit role in the Emmanuel erotic film series. Most recently, you’ll find him in the Hulu series Jagged Mind (Billie is plagued by blackouts and strange visions that lead her to discover she's stuck in a series of time loops, possibly related to her mysterious new girlfriend) and Bruce Willis’s Detective Knight Series.

Nicole Bilderback was Linderman’s assistant, and we’ve seen her before as Heather Tracey, an assistant to the movie company’s owner in the last two seasons of Dawson’s Creek.

RW541 - Heroes Rewatch S01E01-02 - Genesis Look Back

In this weeks episode of The Heroes Rewatch, Cory and Tom ponder about fate and destiny as they discuss season 1 episodes 1 & 2, Genesis and Don't Look Back.

Chapter One 'Genesis':

Volume: One

Written by: Tim Kring

Directed by: David Samel

Original airdate: September 25, 2006

Synopsis:

In a lavish apartment in New York City, Peter Petrelli dreams of himself flying before he’s awakened by Simone, the daughter of a man he is taking care of in his role as a nurse.

Elsewhere in India, as Professor Mohinder Suresh gives a lecture on human evolution, he is informed by a friend that his father has died while in New York City, one of the places his father went to in an attempt to prove his radical theories about human evolution. Suspecting foul play, Mohinder decides he has to go to NYC to find out what happened to his father and try to continue his work, telling his friend that his father feared he was being followed.

In Las Vegas, a woman named Nikki Sanders poses seductively on a bed, a camera nearby, broadcasting her to the internet where someone asks her to remove more of her clothing but balking at the idea of sending her more money to do so. Nikki stops the broadcast, staring oddly at a mirror before she goes to wake her son, Micah, up. When he’s not in his room, she panics but finds him working on his computer elsewhere in the house. When some suspicious looking me show up to their house, Nikki grabs Micah and escapes, taking him to his private school, but the school president is adamant that because she is behind in her tuition payments, Micah will need to be removed from school, despite Nikki’s donation of $25,000 to get him into the school in the first place. As they leave, Nikki finds herself staring oddly at the reflective glass of a fish tank.

In Japan, a man named Hiro Nakamura stares at the clock on his desk at work, concentrating hard, when suddenly the clock stops, and the second hand moves backwards one second. He is ecstatic at this and rushes over to tell his friend Ando but he himself is nonplussed. Later as the two hang out after work, Hiro tries to tell him about the significance of this and how he could delve his powers to bend time and space, but Ando plays it off as a joke, making references to Star Trek. Later at a bar, Hiro talks about how he would never use his developing powers for personal gain while Ando dares him to use his power to teleport himself into a ladies restroom.

In Texas, a cheerleader named Claire Bennett stands atop an old abandoned oil rig while her friend Zach watches from afar, filming her as she plummets to the ground far below. He rushes up to her and she gets up, her arm dislocated, cuts on her skin, but immediately the cuts begin to heal and she puts her arm back into place, completely healed and unharmed. As they walk home together, she spots a train crash that caused a fire. She rushes in, saving a man who was trapped, but as the firemen tend to her and the man, they see she has absolutely no burns on her before she rushes off.

Mohinder goes to his father’s apartment only to discover someone there in another room talking on a phone. He notices a pair of horn rimmed glasses nearby and quickly grabs some things, taking a picture of a map and rushing out before the man sees him. Later, Mohinder returns to the room, finding it has been roughly searched, everything overturned and emptied. He decides to rent the room, and while cleaning up finds a tape labeled Sylar.

Peter meets with his brother, Nathan, who is running for Congress, and tells him of his dream of flying but Nathan is dismissive as they rush out to bail out their mother whose husband died a few weeks ago and was just arrested for shoplifting, something Peter attributes to her just needing attention. Nathan also offers Peter a job with his campaign, one, because he’s a good people person, and two, because Nathan will appear more of a family man if he takes the job. Peter leaves and gets in a cab, noticing the eclipse happening overhead. As the cab drives off, he talks with the driver, Mohinder, about the feeling of being special and meant for something more in life. After dropping Peter off, another man gets into the cab and starts asking him about his name, and his father, leaving him to become suspicious, seeing the man wearing glasses he had noticed in his father’s apartment on his first visit there. Mohinder stops the cab suddenly and runs off leaving the man behind.

Simone finds her boyfriend Isaac ruining his paintings and wondering why. Isacc is frantic as he reveals that his paintings have been predicting future events, showing her something he painted weeks ago and the newspaper that showed the events happening the day before. He admits he has been using drugs again and that the paintings are evil, not even remembering painting them. He yells at Simone and she leaves, returning to her fathers apartment to try and find morphine to help Isaac. Peter goes with her but they find Isaac passed out on the floor, and they call 911, but Peter notices another painting that Isaac painted, one of him, in the exact outfit he’s wearing, seemingly flying in the sky.

Nikki returns home to grab some things but is captured by the thugs and forced to start to remove her clothes. As one thug videotapes the ordeal, Nikki pauses and is punched by the other thug. When she awakens, she looks around in horror as she sees both men dead, killed in gruesome ways, with the video camera still running.

As Ando walks outside the bar, joining Hiro who was just kicked out of the bar being in the ladies room, seemingly having teleported himself into it, Hiro tries to convince him of what he did but again, Ando denies it being real. Hiro rides home alone on the subway, staring at a poster of NYC on the wall. He closes his eyes, and suddenly time starts moving and when he opens his eyes, he finds himself standing in the middle of NYC.

At Claire’s home, she talks with her mom and her brother Lyle, later washing the dishes and getting her hand cut up in the garbage disposal before it once again heals itself back to normal. As Mrs Bennett greets her husband coming in the door, he is revealed to be the horn rimmed glasses man, the man who was in Mohinder’s apartment and cab.

Back in NYC, Nathan goes to an abandoned alleyway, asking Peter why he is there. A cell phone drops from above and he looks up to see Peter there, quickly jumping off the roof. As Peter falls, Nathan suddenly flies up and catches him and holds him, midair, but suddenly loses his grip as Peter starts to fall again.

Back-issues:

Tim Kring got his start writing for television (as R. Timothy Kring) with an episode of Misfits of Science and Knight Rider. He then wrote several scripts, including the TV movie Bay Cove starring Tim Matherson, Pamela Sue Martin, Barbara Billingsley, Jeff Conaway, and Woody Harrilson, as well as Teen Wolf Too starring Jason Bateman. Before creating Heroes, he also created the shows Providence and Crossing Jordan.

Cristine Rose played Angela Petrelli, a character actor with 137 roles to her name. She played the mom in Ferris Bueller’s TV series.

Zach was played by Thomas Dekker, who is most known for Terminator: The Sarah Connors Chronicles where he plays John Connor. He was in other series like The Secret Circle (a teenage witch discovering her powers) and Honey I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show.

Jacqueline Pinol played Janice. She’s a character actor who did additional voices in Across the Spider-verse.

Ntare Guma played Usutu and will be back in the show in later episodes. A character actor with several recurring roles including The Chi (coming-of-age drama series centered on a group of residents who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption), Treme (Life after Hurricane Katrina as the residents of New Orleans try to rebuild their lives, their homes, and their unique culture), and The Lincoln Lawyer (idealist runs his law practice out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car)

Chapter Two 'Don't Look Back':

Volume: One

Written by: Tim Kring

Directed by: Allan Arkush

Original airdate: October 2, 2006

Synopsis:

Peter wakes up in a hospital, his brother Nathan nearby, explaining to him how he jumped from a roof and tried to kill himself, waving off Peter’s claims that Nathan flew and saved him as crazy talk. Angela, their mother, goes to see Peter and tells him that their father actually committed suicide and tried many times to do so, explaining it away as a disease that Peter may have inherited.

Claire talks with her dad and due to her conversation with her mother from the previous day, he tries to discourage her from wanting to meet her birth parents, telling her to keep things light and fun for as long as she can, that meeting her birth parents can be a very adult issue.

Mohinder returns to his apartment and finds a man underneath a table messing around with some wires. The man gets up suddenly and tries to pass himself off as an exterminator but seeing Mohinder isn’t buying the excuse, a fight ensues with the man pulling a gun. He tries to escape but runs into a female neighbor, dropping the gun and enabling her to grab it. The man shoves Mohinder at her and runs off while the woman, Eden, and Mohinder talk and she receives the news that his father died. It turns out Eden often made dinner for his father and became friends.

In Texas, the police arrive at Claire’s school and due to the rescued man in the fire wanting to thank his savior, they question the cheerleaders about who saved him. One officer suggests it was Claire, but another cheerleader steps forward to claim responsibility. Zach later finds Claire and tells her that the tape they made of her continually trying to kill herself, is missing.

Nikki in Vegas returns with Micah to their house to gather their belongings, with Micah wondering what is going on. She goes to the garage and finds no trace of the deadly killing, but a key to a car parked outside with a registration in her name. A note tells her to follow the map in the trunk, which also contains the dead bodies of the thugs. Together she and Micah travel to the desert, and while Micah sleeps, Nikki begins to bury the bodies in a location seemingly littered with other long buried skeletons.

In Los Angeles, officer Matt Parkman is patrolling a crime scene where a husband and wife were killed, the top of the man's head cut clean off, and the brain removed. The detectives inside talk about the case, theorizing that it is Sylar all over again, but Matt Parkman walks inside past them, hearing someone in his head scared of being found and being hurt. He finally finds a little girl, Molly, hidden away in a cupboard under the stairs. One of the detectives, Audrey Hanson, questions how Parkman could know where she was, and calls into question his integrity, how he failed at his detective test multiple times and that maybe he planned this murder so he could look like a hero. Parkman explains it was Sylar, a name he shouldn’t know because it’s highly classified, and thus she arrests Parkman on suspicion of murder.

Back at his apartment, Mohinder and Eden listen to his father’s phone messages and a man named Sylar calls him, saying that Chandra can’t leave him like this, that he made him this way. Chandra is adamant he did not make him a murderer and hangs up. The two then discover a usb drive and upon examination, Mohinder sees his father did actually find a way to track and find people with special abilities.

Back in Texas, HRG tells Claire that he made some calls, and that the process of her meeting her birth parents is now underway, telling her that he just wants her to be his little girl. She says she will, but that he can’t protect forever. As she leaves, he admits that that thought breaks his heart, as he watches the tape that Claire and Zach made of her demonstrating her abilities.

Back in NYC, Peter once again stands on the edge of a building, telling Nathan to admit what really happened the previous day. Nathan admits that he flew, but then dropped Peter and then Peter himself flew as well. Peter gets angry, accusing Nathan of just saying what he wants to hear but Nathan points out that at that very moment, Peter is levitating off the ground.

In NYC, Hiro goes to find Isaac after discovering a comic book he drew that details the exact conversations Hiro had with Ando previously. Unfortunately, he finds Isaac dead on the floor with the top of his head cut clean off, his brain missing, and a gun nearby. He picks up the gun just as police raid the place and take him into custody. They end up calling Ando to help explain, but Ando explains that Hiro has been missing for 5 weeks, despite his own watch telling him it’s been just hours since he teleported from Japan.  A loud boom pulls their attention to the window where a large explosion is building a few blocks away. Hiro concentrates and suddenly finds himself back aboard the subway train he was on the day before.

RW540 - Heroes Rewatch - Power Up (introduction)

In this weeks episode of The Rewatch Podcast, Cory and Tom introduce you to the new rewatch plans and discuss the main cast of Heroes.

Back-Issues:

Sendhil Ramamurthy plays Mohinder Suresh. Heroes was his big break, having had a number of smaller one off roles before that show. Since then he’s had recurring roles in Covert Affairs (Annie Walker must adapt to the challenging life of a CIA operative under the guidance of her handler, Auggie. But soon she realizes her recruit might have to do with her last boyfriend rather than her talent) and The Beauty and the Beast reboot series (A beautiful detective falls in love with an ex-soldier who goes into hiding from the secret government organization that turned him into a mechanically charged beast, stars Kristen Kruek). He also starred as a lead in the series Reverie (A former hostage negotiator takes a job retrieving people who are lost in a virtual reality program) alongside Sarah Shahi (from Dawson’s Creek). He had a recurring role in Netflix’s Never Have I Ever (The complicated life of a first-generation Indian-American teenage girl, inspired by Mindy Kaling's own childhood). He was in the animated series Cleopatra In Space (a comedic adventure focusing on the untold story of Cleopatra's teenage years. Viewers can follow Cleo as she is transported 30,000 years into the future, to an Egyptian-themed planet that is ruled by talking cats and where she discovers she is the prophesied savior of the future world. In order to prepare for her role and mission, Cleo is sent to an elite academy where she has to train to take on the bad guys, figure out how to eventually get herself back home to Egypt, as well as tackling the highs and lows of being a teenager in high school), played Ra’s Al Gaul in DC SuperHero Girls, had a small role in Doom Patrol, and was a recurring villain on The Flash series.

Milo Ventimiglia plays Peter Petrelli and before Heroes he was doing quite a bit of acting, appearing as a recurring character in Gilmore Girls and American Dreams. He started out as an extra in Saved By the Bell and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He appeared in Rocky Balboa, right before Heroes came out, and then reprised the role in Creed II. He’s done some voice work, playing Dr. Strange and Wolverine, and even Spider-Man Noir in the Ultimate Spider-man series, a voice played by Nicholas Cage in Into the Spiderverse. His biggest series since Heroes however is This Is Us (A extra-heartwarming and super beyond-emotional story about a unique set of triplets, their incredibly amazing and heart wrenching struggles, and their wonderful parents). He currently stars in The Company You Keep (Tells the story of con-man Charlie and undercover C.I.A. officer Emma. A night of passion ignites love between the pair, who are on a collision course professionally).

Adrian Pasdar, playing Nathan Petrelli, is likely best known for playing Iron Man! Well, the animated version anyway, in several series such as Iron Man, Marvel Anime, Iron man 3 The Official Video Game, Lego Marvel Superheroes and it’s sequel Maximum Overload, Iron man and Captain America: Heroes United, Hulk and the Agents of SMASH, Disney Infinity, Ultimate Spider-Man, Phineas and Ferb, and Avengers Assemble. He has done some other superhero voices for other titles as well, providing voices for Captain America, Hawkeye, and Hugo Strange and even played Morgan Edge in the CW’s Supergirl. He actually was in Top Gun as Chipper and Solar Bases as Darstar at the start of his career. His first leading role was as Jim Profit in Profit (Jim Profit works for a multinational company and isn't above using any means necessary to get ahead, which includes bribery, blackmail, intimidation, extortion, and even murder). It only ran for 8 episodes but reviews rate it very high. Another brief 44 episode series he headlined was Mysterious Ways (Declan Dunn is an anthropology professor who believes in miracles and other wonders. When he hears of a miraculous thing he goes out to find out if it's an actual miracle. Peggy Fowler is his friend, a psychiatrist who tries to make sure he's grounded). He was also a regular on Judging Amy as an assistant district attorney, which brings him finally to Heroes. After Heroes his biggest role is as a lead in The Lying Game (Identical twins meet as teenagers after Sutton was adopted by a rich couple and Emma grew up a foster kid. Sutton investigates their bio mom etc., while Emma takes her place/identity). His latest project is East New York where he has guest starred 4 times so far (Procedural following Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood and her diverse team in East New York's 74th Precinct).

Greg Grunberg plays Matt Parkman. He is a childhood friend of JJ Abrams and often appears in his productions, most notably Lost as the airline pilot. His breakout role was actually in Felicity where he was in 70 of the 87 episodes. He followed that up with Alias where he guest starred in 68 of the 105 episodes. Since Heroes, he’s played in various series as one off characters, with recurring roles in Jennifer Love Hewitt’s The Client List (Riley is a single mother living in a small Texas town and leading a shocking double life), Masters of Sex, and the Star Wars sequels playing Snap Wesley. We have mentioned him before as starring in a series called Weird Weird Times but still no information is available about that 2020 series.

Jack Coleman plays Mr. Bennett (also known as HRG). This is his claim to fame, although he’s had appearances in a large number of tv shows, such as The Office and Castle where he played a senator, in both series. He was a lead in Stephen King’s Kingdom Hospital as well (The quirky staff and patients of an ultramodern (albeit increasingly dilapidated) Maine hospital gradually become familiar with the supernatural occurrences that take place there, uncovering a dark secret in the process). He most recently had a guest spot (2 episodes) on the ABC series Good Trouble (2 sisters move to LA to try and start their lives as young adults).

Hayden Panettiere plays Claire Bennett. While Heroes was her first big breakout hit, she has since led the show Nashville where she did 124 episodes (lives of rising and fading movie stars in Nashville). As a much younger actress, she had recurring roles on One life To Live and Guiding Light, as well as a recurring role in Ally McBeal for 12 episodes. She also played Kirby Reed in Scream 4 and Scream VI, which is her latest project.

Masi Oka plays Hiro Nakamura. Near the start of his career he played a Japanese pedestrian in Austin Powers Goldmember, which quickly got him a main role as Deng Wu in the series Luis (which has no synopsis but is named after the lead actor, Luis Guzman). He had one-off roles here and there in many shows until finally Heroes hit. After Heroes, his biggest role was as Max in the Hawaii 5-0 reboot. His latest role was as a conductor in the movie Bullet Train and a voice in an episode of the Star Wars Visions series playing … Ethan.

Zachary Quinto plays Sylar. Before Heroes aside from a bunch of one off roles, he was in season 3 of 24, starring in 24 episodes as Adam Kaufman. After that he was in a comedy called So Notorious as a lead with Tori Spelling (a parody of her life). After Heroes he landed the role of Spock in the JJ Abrams rebooted Star Trek film series, and the video games associated with those movies. He did play Lex Luthor in the movie Superman: Man of Tomorrow, and was the lead in 20 episodes of a show called NOS4A2 (Charlie Manx, a seductive immortal who feeds off the souls of children, has his whole world threatened when a young woman in New England discovers she has a dangerous gift). He was in 11 episodes of Netflix’s Big Mouth (John Mulaney and Nick Kroll’s production), 27 episodes of American Horror Story, and currently plays the voice of Robot in the Amazon series, Invincible.

Noah Gray-Cabey played Micah. Starting out he was in 60 of the 124 episodes of My Wife and Kids, led by Damon Wayons (Michael Kyle longs for a traditional life, but his day-trader wife Janet, gangsta rap-worshipping son Michael Jr., and brooding daughters Claire and Kady make his dream just that ... a dream). After Heroes he was in the series Code Black (The staff of the L.A. County Hospital emergency room treats patients under difficult circumstances, with Rob Lowe, Luis Guzman). He also did 9 episodes of Pretty Little Liars, and his latest project was in 14 episodes of the series All American (When a star high school football player from South Central is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High School, two separate worlds collide). He was also in Pizza Man, the Frankie Munoz show that we have talked a lot about in the past (A pizza delivery boy receives superhuman strength upon ingesting a genetically altered tomato. He must battle a corporation that is trying to steal his powers in order to save both the world and the girl of his dreams).

Ali Larter played Nikki Sanders, as well as some other people in Heroes. Before that, she was a guest star in many series, such as Dawson’s Creek. She is known for several movie roles, such as Varsity Blues, House on Haunted Hill, Legally Blonde, 3 of the Resident Evil film series, and Final Destination 1 and 2.  After Heroes she was in the movie Obsessed with Idris Elba (A successful asset manager, who has just received a huge promotion, is blissfully happy in his career and in his marriage. But when a temp worker starts stalking him, all the things he's worked so hard for are placed in jeopardy).  Her last lead role was in The Last Victim (Neo Western thriller set in the American southwest, following Sheriff Hickey trying to solve the worst case he has seen in his small town, likely caused by a violent local gang led by a fearsome criminal) while her most recent role was lower down on the cast list in The Hater (A liberal speechwriter on a U.S. Senate campaign, loses her job for a protest gone wrong and returns to her conservative Texas hometown where her childhood bully is running for state. Dorothy discovers that good vs. evil isn't simple).

Santiago Cabrera played Isaac Mendez. His first big role was the lead in Empire (Epic four-hour series about the rise of Octavius who succeeded Julius Caesar and tangled with Marc Anthony for control of the Roman empire and finally went on to become the emperor Augustus). After Heroes he had a recurring role in 6 episodes of Merlin where he played Lancelot and then 30 episodes of The Musketeers playing Aramis. He was a lead in the series Salvation (An MIT grad student and a tech superstar bring a low-level Pentagon official a staggering discovery--that an asteroid is just six months away from colliding with Earth), and most recently played Christobal Rios on Picard.
