Our Favourite Trivia:

The Butcher Brothers is the alter-ego of filmmakers Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores. They first collaborated as producers on Lurking in Suburbia (2006) which was directed by Altieri, and starred Joe Egender and Samuel Child. They went on to co-direct the indie horror film The Hamiltons, also starring Egender and Child, and its sequel The Thompsons (2012) . In 2007, they filmed the video for the Static-X song "Destroyer". They went on to co-direct April Fool’s Day (2008), The Violent Kind (2010), and Star Light (2020); continuing to use their cast of regular actors. They have had a film called Black Sunset in development since 2014.

The Butcher Brothers also re-wrote the script for the remake with Mikey Wigart. It was originally intended to maintain the original comedic tone, but they opted to bring on a more modern take.

It was filmed in North Carolina under producers Tara L. Craig and Frank Mancuso Jr, who had also produced the original.

The costume department gave the female leads each a color that would dominate their costumes and set the tones for their characters. Desiree dresses in red as her character is determined and confident but slightly vicious. Barbie dresses in pink as she relies heavily on her femininity and sexuality as a pageant queen. Torrance starts off with white as she is pure and innocent and eventually black as she reveals herself to be the opposite of what Desiree thought her to be.

Milan Hastings' headstone says she was born in 1986, the year that the original film was released.

The movie Torrance is starring in is called Boogie Blades 2.
