Tom Hanks Timeline:

Hanks is a rising star, but often refrained from discussing the topic of fame during interviews. Apparently the topic bored him, and he also refused to answer questions regarding his family. After proving to be a romantic lead in Splash, then specifically choosing to do the raunchy R rated sex comedy Bachelor Party because "It was an opportunity to be an iconoclast down the line,” he came to The Man With One red Shoe to bolster his comedy chops. Hanks believed there was always a need for comedy, even when people were worried about impending doom. He referred to creating comedy “like sleep, you can't live without it. Certainly during the depression that was the case,” and often referred to the screwball comedies of that era as inspiration.

Our Favourite Trivia:

The film is a remake of the 1972 French film The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe starring Pierre Richard and Mireille Darc. The billing for the film omits the title, stating only, "Based on the motion picture written by Francis Veber and Yves Robert".

Tom Hanks described this film as "Not a very good movie. It doesn't have any real, clear focus to it. It isn't about anything in particular that you can honestly understand. It made no money at all."

Due to limited marketing, the film was not a big hit at the box office. Because of this, no soundtrack album was released at the time. However, in 2018, after 33 years of requests, a limited special edition soundtrack CD was released. It contained 18 tracks plus a 20-page booklet.
