Chapter Fourteen 'Distractions':

Synopsis:
As Claude and Peter walk the streets, invisible, he explains that right now his powers are showing up as a reflex and needs to learn how to consciously start accessing them. He then grabs a lady’s purse, tosses it into Peter’s hands, and runs off, leaving Peter to suddenly appear visible as the lady sees him. After talking with the police, Peter complains about almost being arrested but Claude waves it off, explaining that they need to find out what’s holding him back, before realizing it is all the people in Peter’s life holding him back, telling him he needs to let people go because people suck. To convince Peter, Claude says they will go check on his girl, Simone, and see what exactly is going on with her. When they see her, she has returned to see Isaac and are hugging each other. After they leave, Claude keeps pushing Peter to forget about people, but Peter pushes back, until Claude finally pushes him off the roof, telling him to just fly. Peter however falls onto a car and is injured. Miraculously, he stands up and heals himself. He tells Claude that right before he landed, he thought of Claire and how she made him feel, making him realize that he can access the powers if he can remember how they made him feel. Suddenly, Peter’s head begins to hurt and his eyes go white as he starts experiencing the pain from his visions but Claude punches him hard and he is knocked out.
In the prison, Dr. Witherson works with Niki, trying to get Jessica to come out, using a metronome as a tool to assist them. Jessica does come out, and immediately breaks her handcuffs and attacks the doctor, leaving her beaten and tased before the guards get in and knock her out, returning her to her cell. Later, Linderman’s lackey, Aaron Malsky comes to the prison to inform her that all charges have been dropped, as another inmate has confessed to the crime. Niki begs them to let her stay there, but to no avail, and she is sent home, where Micah is overjoyed, asking her to play some games. As she looks into the mirror, she tells Micah she’ll be right there, revealing that she is Jessica, telling Niki to be happy she’s stuck inside because she wanted to be locked up.
Back at Primatech, Sylar faces off against HRG but there’s no contest as he tosses HRG against the wall, taking his wallet, and locking the doors behind him, showing HRG his driver’s license which has his home address on it.
Simone goes to Isaac and asks if he has seen Peter, and he explains that he’s been looking for him but only seems to be painting locations and things with no sign of Peter in them.
Claire meanwhile has convinced her mother that she and Zach are going to go see some manatees at an aquarium outside of town, but really they travel to meet her birth mother, Meredith. Meredith is happy to see her and the two begin chatting until Claire decides to show her her secret. Meredith then reveals that she too has power, creating flames in the palm of her hand.
Hiro’s father, Kaito Nakamura, chastises Hiro for leaving his job and embarrassing their family, telling him that he needs to return home. Hiro refuses, stating a different destiny, explaining his plan to see Linderman with the painting, leaving Mr. Nakumura to tear up the painting. Hiro’s sister, Kimiko, begs Hiro to come back, but Hiro realizes that his sister is really the true heir to his father’s business, and creates a ploy to have her reveal her business savvy to her father. Hiro tells him that she should be the one to take over the business, not him.
Back in Texas, Sylar, dressed in a Primatech Paper Company delivery man outfit, goes to the Bennett’s household, surprising Mrs. Bennett. She talks with him, but as the conversation continues, Sylar gets creepier and creepy as she starts to suspect something is off. He tosses her phone away with his telekinetic powers and then throws her against a cabinet. Luckily, HRG and The Haitian bust in and give chase, but Sylar manages to get away. HRG tells his wife that The Haitian is his friend and will help her forget again. Isaac calls HRG and tells him that he thinks he found a way to stop Peter, explaining that he’s been painting Peter but can’t see him, like he’s a ghost. HRG comments that their “old friend” isn’t as dead as they thought. Later, Claire returns home and is surprised when her mother admonishes her for skipping school, seemingly forgetting their conversation from earlier.
Back in Kermit, Texas, Meredith makes a phone call, telling someone on the other line that their daughter just found her and that she’s alive, as the camera reveals Nathan on the other end of the call.

Jeannot Szwarc goes back to the 60’s in TV directing, starting with Ironside in 1968 through to Grey’s Anatomy in 2019. He also directed many TV movies and features, including Jaws 2 and Supergirl (1984).
Jessalyn Gilsig played Meredith. She’s best known for her role of the selfish and controlling wife of Will Shuester, Terri Schuester on Glee. Most recently she was in the John Stamos lead series Big Shot (a temperamental college basketball coach who gets fired from his job and must take a teaching and coaching job at an elite all-girls private high school). She was also a lead in the first three seasons of Vikings, a lead in the first two seasons of Boston Public (the lives of 10 faculty members at a high school in Boston weave in and out of dealing with trouble-makers, having a personal life, and keeping sanity), and a recurring character in Nip/Tuck.
George Takei played Hiro’s father, Kaito Nakamura, but is of course best known for his role of Hikaru Sulu on the original Star Trek series. He appeared in many TV shows, video games, and movies since then, even playing himself on various cartoons such as Family Guy, Scooby-Doo, and The Big Bang Theory. He has become a strong activist for LGBTQ rights, and a vocal advocate of immigrant rights. His own history of being an immigrant was turned into a Broadway show called Allegiance.
Chapter Fifteen 'Run!':

Synopsis:
Meredith talks with Nathan and explains how she survived the fire, a ruse she used to try and escape from someone who was out to get her. She uses Claire as a bargaining chip to get Nathan to offer her money so she won’t bring up his out of wedlock child. Despite his mother’s insistence that he not go and just send the money, Nathan feels he owes it to her because he did have feelings for her in the past.
Meanwhile, Claire is concerned over her mother’s memory loss, especially when HRG mentions that she’s been to see a neurologist for tests. Later HRG confronts Claire about her skipping school and the fake ticket to the aquarium and grounds her. Claire calls her birth mother who tells her she found her birth father but that she will let her know if he is interested in meeting her. Claire sneaks out and goes to see Meredith who tells her that her father really isn’t a great guy but will give them money, and offers her a small fraction of what Nathan is giving her, lying about the amount. Claire hides out and waits until Nathan shows up and listens to their conversation, hearing that Nathan doesn’t even want to see the picture of Claire. When Nathan leaves, she throws a rock at his car window in anger and runs off, leaving him to think it was just the neighborhood kids playing around.
Jessica meanwhile, is covering up her tattoo so DL won’t notice while Niki watches helplessly in the reflection. Micah asks her and DL if they are ever going to talk about what they all can do, but they rush him off to school, while Jessica opens a package she received from Mr. Linderman, detailing someone she is supposed to kill for stealing money from him.
Elsewhere, Parkman has picked up a job doing private security, in this case for Aron Malsky who apparently decided to steal the money DL was returning to Linderman, and is worried about the repercussions.
Hiro and Ando talk about how to get in to see Linderman when they come upon a crying showgirl who Ando takes a liking to and offers to help her get a bag back from her ex boyfriend in a hotel room upstairs. They disguise themselves as hotel bellboys and deliver room service to his room. As the man in question takes a shower, Hiro and Ando sneak around looking for the bag but Hiro feels that they shouldn’t be doing it and leaves, while Ando stays and finds the bag but has to hide under the bed as the man is coming out of the shower.
Mohinder continues trying to contact the people on his list, but all of them are not interested and merely hang up on him, until he reaches a man named Zane who calls him back and asks him to come quickly. Unfortunately, Sylar gets to Zane first, pretending to be Dr. Suresh and learns of the man's ability before killing him and taking it for himself. When Mohinder arrives, Sylar pretends to be Zane, and fascinates Mohinder by showing him his ability. Mohinder is renewed and excited to find more people like Zane, with Sylar/Zane offering to go with him to help.
Malsky has Parkman stop at a diamond dealer where he is offering the 2 million in exchange for valuable diamonds, but Parkman overhears the dealer thinking that Linderman set up this deal to catch Malsky. Parkman rushes Malsky out of the shop and they begin trying to get away when he hears Jessica’s thoughts about how she is going to kill the bodyguard and then Malsky. He then overhears Jessica talking to Niki and sends Malsky to the other side of the building as he calls the police for backup. He manages to catch Jessica and handcuffs her to the railing and asks where Niki is, with a surprised Jessica saying that she’s probably killing Malsky. Matt rushes off to find Malsky but Jessica has easily gotten out of the cuffs and throws Parkman out the window and then shoots Malsky dead.
Hiro overhears the showgirl talking to her actual boyfriend on the phone and planning to meet him later with the suitcase, and Hiro tells her she is a bad person, resulting in her punching him and knocking him out. Later he awakens to find himself trapped in a storage room, unable to get out, despite repeated attempts at knocking the door down. Eventually someone opens the door and it turns out to be the man from the shower who is actually not the showgirl’s boyfriend, but the state gaming commissioner.
Parkman, having landed on a narrow ledge, climbs back into the building just as police arrive. Parkman remembers Malsky’s dying thoughts and manages to find the diamonds he had hidden but as he goes to turn them in to the lead detective, he hears the man’s thoughts about how Parkman messed up this job and will likely never wear a badge again, leaving Parkman to pocket the diamonds himself.
Claire returns back home to see her mother scared and staring at Mr. Muggles who is barking at her. She tells Claire that this mangy thing came out of nowhere and probably has rabies. Claire tells her that he doesn’t and that she actually loves him but Mrs Bennett doesn’t know Mr. Muggles and that she doesn’t know her either as she backs away from them both.
Meanwhile, Jessica has returned home to Niki’s family to find another package waiting for her, opening it to find a picture of Nathan.

Roxann Dawson is a working TV director. She’s most well known as an actor, and for her role of Lt. B'Elanna Torres, which originated in Star Trek Voyager and reprised in an episode of Enterprise. She was also in the direct-to-video sequel Darkman III: Die Darkman Die as Angela. She appeared in plenty of TV shows before and after Star Trek, but mostly just directs these days.
Bill Fagerbakke played the State Gaming Commission Representative, Gustuvson. He is best known for his role of Dawber on the sitcom Coach and the voice of Patrick the StarFish in SpongeBob SquarePants. He’s got 164 credits to his name, including video games based on the SpongeBob Squarepants, Young Justice, Lloyd in Space, DuckTales, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Kim Possible, Transformers, American Dad, and Family Guy. He’s made many cameos in TV series and movies, including Jennifer’s Body, Weeds, How I Met Your Mother, Funny Farm, Blackish, Oz, Halloween II (2009), and the CBS miniseries The Stand.
Missi Pyle played showgirl Hope. She is another “that guy” with almost 200 roles to her name. Some of her bigger roles are in Y: The Last Man, Dirty John (true crime story of love gone wrong), Galaxy Quest, Impulse (a young woman discovers she has the extraordinary power of teleportation), the aforementioned Another Period (a mockumentary-style period piece comedy that follows members of the wealthy Bellacourt family and their servants in early 20th-century Newport, Rhode Island), Cleaners (Roxie and Veronica are two gorgeous young women - who also happen to be highly trained contract killers. While on an errand for their boss, an unpleasant surprise in the trunk of their car turns this lethal pair into hunted targets), Jennifer Falls (Jennifer played by Jaime Presley, falls from her $250,000 LA job due to anger issues and her and her teenage daughter move in with her mom, with Ethan Suplee), and was even one of the parents in Tim Burton’s Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.
