Chapter Five 'Fight or Flight':

Synopsis:
Peter continues his romance with Caitlin, but a young blonde woman shows up in Cork looking for him. Word gets back to Ricky who tells him to hole up with Caitlin in her house. The two go there and finally open the box, with them only finding some plane tickets to Montreal, a passport, and a picture with his brother whom he doesn’t recognize. Meanwhile back in the pub, the blonde woman shows up questioning Ricky about Peter, but he covers for him. The woman doesn’t believe him however and attacks him with lightning from her hands, burning him and killing him.
Back at the house, Peter walks around the room until he sees one of Caitlin’s blank canvases and suddenly goes into a trance and begins painting. When he’s finished, the image shows a man and woman near some street sign in French, with Caitlin suggesting it could be Montreal. Caitlin then gets a call that Ricky has been found dead and her and Peter rush to the bar, with Peter vowing to stop hiding and find who did this.
Outside the pub, in a car, the blond woman talks to someone on the phone, apologizing for killing Ricky, and after finding out someone else is coming soon, agrees to stop her mission and come home, saying goodbye to someone she calls Daddy.
Matt and Mohinder argue about what to do next, with Mohinder pushing Matt to go face his father, Maury, while he takes care of Molly. Matt tries to talk to Angela about it but she gives him nothing, with Nathan arriving, again mad that she’s being questioned. Matt explains his plan to go to find his father and Nathan insists on coming along. When they find his father’s apartment, they bust down his door to find him pointing a gun at them. Nathan offers a distraction allowing Matt to disarm him. Maury tries to explain about the company and what they were trying to do, but then when Matt tries to read his mind, they both experience great pain. The conversation turns to their abilities as his dad tells Matt to come to the other room so he can show him something that will explain everything. Unfortunately when he separates Matt and Nathan, Maury uses his more advanced psychic powers to trap both of them in nightmares, Matt in prison, facing off against a guard and mind games from his ex wife Janice, and Nathan on the roof of the Deveaux building, witnessing the nuclear winter and the scarred vision of himself. Both Matt and Nathan begin fighting the people they see, not realizing they are actually fighting each other. Matt is eventually able to use his powers to get inside Nathan’s head telling him to wake up. They realize Matt’s father has escaped, but Nathan finds a picture of Bob with the helix symbol drawn on his face, giving them a clue as to where Maury is heading.
Mohinder, unsure about how to help Molly, tells Bennett he is taking her to the Company because they are the only ones who can figure out what is happening with her. Bennett tells him not to do it but he does anyway. While there, Jessica escapes and goes on a rampage, attacking Bob. Mohinder uses a stun gun Bob gave him minutes earlier to take her down. Later, Mohinder talks to Nikki and tries to help her escape, but she says that she wants to be there. Mohinder leaves to find the next person with abilities that Bob told him about.
Ando takes the scrolls he found to a specialist who can help restore some of the more unreadable damaged scrolls. Hiro talks of how he has been living out their childhood stories, and finally has managed to find all the maps needed to find White Beard and save Yaeko’s father. Hiro also witnesses the growing love between Yaeko and Kensei. Unfortunately the scroll Ando is trying to read is too damaged and will require more work to be able to find out how the story ends.
In New Orleans, Monica refuses to identify the robber, in fear for her family, since the man is a local gang member. Her coworker Camille asks her what is going on and Monica explains how she’s been able to do things lately that she never could before. Back at her Nana’s house, Micah plays the piano while Monica watches him, sitting next to him. Suddenly she begins playing the piano as well with expert skill, shocked at what she just did. Micah tells her that he thinks she has abilities, confiding in her about his abilities as well as his parents. He shows her a 9th Wonders comic book with a heroine called St Joan who can copy anything she sees done. They decide to test out her abilities as she watches a group of girls play double Dutch jump rope, always having been bad at the skill but now amazingly executes the moves perfectly. At home,she watches a Bruce Lee movie and perfectly copies the fighting techniques she sees. She wonders why they were given these powers, with Micah saying maybe they’re supposed to do something with these things. They both agree to keep their abilities a secret, as the doorbell rings, and Monica answers it to find Mohinder standing there, telling her he has answers to her questions.

Parkman’s father was played by character actor Alan Blumenfeld. He’s got 193 roles to his name, including Space Force, Mad Men, CSI, Stargate: Atlantis, Gilmore Girls, Jag, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Saved By The Bell: The New Class, Law and Order, Matlock, Family Ties, and The Golden Girls, amongst many others. Most recently, he’s played a recurring character in the series Good Trouble (the residents of an LA communal living space juggle careers, love and friendship, and learn that standing up for what you believe in sometimes requires making a little noise and getting into trouble).
The blonde woman (Elle) was played by Kristen Bell. She’s best known now for playing Anna in Frozen and it’s sequel, but she is also known for The Good Place (four people and their otherworldly frenemy struggle in the afterlife to define what it means to be good), Veronica Mars (after her best friend is murdered, and her father is removed as county Sheriff, Veronica Mars dedicates her life to cracking the toughest mysteries in the affluent town of Neptune), the Showtime series House of Lies (charming, fast-talking Marty Kaan and his crack team of management consultants use every dirty trick in the book to woo powerful CEOs and close huge deals in this scathing, irreverent satire of corporate America today, with Don Cheadle), the voice of Gossip Girl (narrated by the unknown, omniscient blogger "Gossip Girl", the show revolves around the lives of privileged upper-class adolescents living in Manhattan's Upper East Side), and The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (when a handsome neighbor moves in across the street, Anna, a heartbroken woman for whom every day is the same, starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel; that is, until she witnesses a gruesome murder. Or did she?). She’s also been in a number of movies, most notably, Forgetting Sarah Marshall (devastated Peter takes a Hawaiian vacation in order to deal with the recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah. Little does he know, Sarah's traveling to the same resort as her ex - and she's bringing along her new boyfriend).
It may be a mistake or just a change for the Heroes universe, but it’s Odessa, Texas and Odesa, Ukraine, but in this episode they establish both are spelled with a double S.
Chapter Six 'The Line':

Synopsis:
Claire tries out for the cheerleading squad, but Debbie refuses to allow her on the team. May apologizes as Debbie says Claire is just not extraordinary. She confides in West about not making the team, and knowing that all it would take to get the squad away from Debbie’s influence is for someone to take her down a notch. West gives her the idea to get back at Debbie with Claire realizing that public humiliation is the key. Claire goes to Debbie, drunk at a hazing ritual of the new cheerleaders, and asks to speak with her alone, when suddenly a masked West flies down, carrying Claire high up into the air and dropping her on the steps, her body broken and bleeding. Debbie screams and begins running away as West starts flying towards her.
Later the police are questioning Debbie, who says she managed to get away from the flying masked man, and is confused why Claire’s body isn’t on the steps. Claire appears, healed of course, and the police reveal they found an empty liquor bottle and begun questioning Debbie about the underage drinking. After the police and everyone leaves, Claire is upset she actually did it all but West tells her everything worked out and Debbie will be fine but has been humiliated. May arrives to reveal that Debbie’s breathalyzer test came back over the limit and got suspended and now has an opening for Claire.
Monica trains with Mohinder as he has her watching gymnastics videos and copying the moves. He explains she’s at a privately funded company that was created to help people like her. Bob and Mohinder leave to talk and Mohinder sees a file with the name Adam Monroe on it. Bob tells him they have been using the Shanti virus to try and develop a vaccine, explaining that they want him to use it to see if they can take Monica’s powers away with it. Mohinder is aghast they would be doing this,warning him of the possibility of it crossing over into the general population and becoming incurable, but Bob reminds him of the damage Gabriel Grey did and orders him to inject her. He calls Bennett but is only told that while he has good principles, in order to bring down this company, sometimes they have to do bad things. If Mohinder refuses to follow Bob’s orders, they will get rid of him and he will lose Molly.
Mohinder approaches Monica and explains that he needs to give her a shot as the final part of her testing. She agrees but Mohinder decides he can’t go through with it, smashing vials of the virus, telling Bob he’s leaving with Molly. Bob talks with Mohinder and apologizes, revealing he’s been with the company for 30 years, and made questionable choices but is dealing with someone who is a danger to them all, Adam Monroe. Bob tells Mohinder that he is valuable not just for expertise and knowledge, but for keeping them in line, and tells him he has someone who can help make sure there’s no further misunderstandings. Bob then makes sure Monica is ok with her work and home absences since she’s been away, providing her with phone numbers if she ever needs anything, and also an iPod with videos on it of every skill she could possibly want, telling her to help out her town with her amazing gift.
Back at the Company, Jessica approaches Mohinder, who only recognizes her as Nikki, and tells him she’s all better and is his new partner, that she was put together with him to insure there were no more misunderstandings.
In the Ukraine, a man named Ivan who just saw off his wife and grandchild, is surprised to turn around to see Bennet and the Haitian, as Bennett hits the man and knocks him out. When he awakens he finds himself handcuffed to a chair as Bennett demands to know where the paintings are. Ivan refuses, saying he's not scared because he trained Bennett himself. Bennett tells the Haitian to begin taking memories from him and soon the man can’t remember some basic details of his life with his wife. When Bennett takes a call from Claire asking to borrow the car, Ivan offers Bennett a deal, knowing that they both value their families. If Bennett comes back to the Company with their new changed directives, he and his family will be safe, and they’ll be told about the painting, as Bennett considers it. He talks to Ivan about a daughter he lost to leukemia, and threatens to take the memories of that daughter, but Ivan finally gives in and tells him the location of the paintings, a place where they once tagged the “liquid man.” Ivan asks if they now just erase his memory, but Bennett knows how the Company works and decides to make it look like a simple home invasion and murder. Ivan begs for his life, offering him a chance to stop running, or else he is condemning himself to hell, but Bennett shoots him, understanding fully.
Bennet and The Haitian find the paintings and they now can see the whole sequence of paintings: 1 Kaito Nakamura’s death, 2 someone lying dead in steps (Claire from the episode), 3 a hand with a vial, 4 a blonde woman, likely Nikki or Jessica, banging on a door, 5 a radioactive hazard symbol barrel and a shocked man staring ahead, 6 Hiro fighting with swords against a samurai, 7 an injured Mohinder with a smoking gun, and 8 a dead Bennett.
Maya and Gabriel/Sylar chat on the drive, as he tells her about his many abilities he used to have. She’s shocked he wants to be different, but he says he wants to be special, that it doesn’t have to be a burden to have these powers. Alejandro wants to hire a coyote to take only them across the border but Maya is insistent that Gabriel goes with them. They make it to the border but the patrol shows up. Gabriel tells Maya to ignore them and drive around them but the men surround the car. Gabriel convinces her to use her power to stop the men, pushing Alejandro away from her. As they all collapse, Gabriel included, she drives away. Later, Alejandro and Gabriel/Sylar fight as Maya breaks it up. Alejandro tells her that he can stay, but when she uses her power next, he won’t use his ability to stop her and will let him die. As Maya goes to get something to clean up Gabriel’s wounds, Sylar tells the non English speaking Alejandro that he plans to kill them both and take their powers.
Ando’s specialist manages to clear up more of the scrolls and they learn of Hiro talking to Yaeko explaining how they will find her father in the tent that smolders, but she dismisses that as a guess. Kensei shows up telling her that he found information indicating her father is indeed in a tent that smolders, as Yaeko looks at Hiro in disbelief. Later that night, Hiro, Kensei, and Yaeko sneak into White Beard’s army camp at night, with Kensei nonchalantly going to a guard and asking about the swordsmith. The guard runs him through with his sword, but Kensei just pulls it out, and knocks the guard out. The three find the swordsmith who tells them that he was forced into helping White Beard build guns, which would end the way if the Samurai. Hiro tells Kensei he must destroy the guns to save the country before they break the chains and begin their escape, attacking men along the way. As White Beard himself shows up and shoots at them, Hiro quickly transports him and Yaeko away as she looks around, asking what he has done. He feigns ignorance but she knows he did something, realizing he can move people around, and then realizes that he was indeed the man under the mask who saved her, and was with her under the cherry blossom tree. She asks him if he loves her and he admits it, with Yaeko seeing that everything she loved in Kensei came from him. Hiro freezes time as Yaeko goes to kiss him, worried about time and space, but decides to kiss her anyway as Kensei watches from afar. Ando realizes that the story suddenly stops there, with no more scrolls available.
Hiro goes to find Kensei, hoping to go back and destroy the guns, but Kensei reveals he saw him and Yaeko. Kensei is angry, but Hiro says that the kiss they had will be their last because she is supposed to be Kensei’s princess. He agrees to stop White Beard but instead knocks Hiro out, giving him to White Beard who has recaptured the swordsmith and Yaeko.
Peter arrives in Montreal, with Caitlin and they eventually find the building that Peter painted, entering and finding a note left for Peter from someone named Adam, saying they were right about the Company and that the world is in danger. He hugs Caitlin, wishing to know who he is and what the future holds as they are suddenly transported via Peter’s powers to one year in the future in New York City, seeing that the whole city has been evacuated.

The Swordsmith is played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who is one of THE go to guys for Asian performances in movies and series. The one credit we want to highlight is that he was in TWO episodes of Thunder In Paradise.
Elya Baskin played Ivan. He’s another character actor that shows up in many movies and series, notably the Sam Raimi Spider-man movies, where he played Peter Parker’s landlord. You may have seen him in Homeland, Madam Secretary, Castle, Rizzoli & Isles, Angels and Demons, Criminal Minds, and The West Wing, amongst many others.

Molly's Dream / Team Building Exercise
In Molly’s Dream, we see inside Molly’s head and what she is experiencing after being attacked by Maury Parkman. She sees Matt in his officer’s uniform, and Mohinder held onto the ceiling by Sylar’s knives. She ends up riding a giant cockroach while benign pelted by helix signs, before Sylar himself shows up, telling her that yes, it isn’t real, but he has something worse in store for her as he turns into thousands of cockroaches that surround her.
In Team Building Exercise, we find a young Noah Bennett on his first bag and tag mission at a train yard with Ivan and Maarten, a special with a fire generating power. The two older agents attempt to capture a man who can turn into water, but they fail. Noah thinks to himself that they use too much brawn and not enough brains, or finesse. He comes up with a plan for them to use Ivan’s gun and Maarten’s powers to direct the Liquid Man to a freezer boxcar where Bennett traps him inside.
